The implementation of the Shops and Establishment Act in Nagaland

Shops and Establishments in the state of Nagaland are governed by the Shops and Establishments Act, 1986 which was implemented and watched over by the Labour Department. The Act provides for regulations of conditions of work and employment in shops and commercial establishments or establishments for public entertainment or amusement. * Every employee should receive overtime pay if they work for more than eight hours or 45 hours a week. Furthermore, the overtime should be double their hourly salary.
* Every employee is entitled weekly holiday pay, as well as, national, festival Holidays notified from time to time.
* Every employee is eligible encashment leave with wages for eight days, every year.
